A safe is a long-term purchase, and understanding its warranty is part of choosing and caring for it. Liberty’s limited lifetime warranty provides protection for qualifying safes, with separate coverage periods for certain components.
Here are the key points to review when purchasing a Liberty safe from Southeast Safes.
📝 Register Your Safe Within 30 Days
Liberty’s published written warranty requires online registration within 30 days of purchase and states that failure to register voids warranty coverage.
Have your serial number and purchase information ready, and keep your receipt and registration confirmation with your records.
🛡️ What Does the Limited Lifetime Warranty Cover?
Subject to its terms, Liberty covers defects in materials and workmanship for the original purchaser’s lifetime. Locks and painted surfaces have separate coverage periods.
🔥 Fire, Break-In, and Attempted Break-In Damage
In the United States and Canada, qualifying damage may be repaired or the safe replaced when homeowner’s insurance does not cover it. Supporting insurance and police or fire reports are required.
Contact Liberty promptly after an incident. Its written warranty requires break-in claims within six months.
🔐 Locks, Paint, and Electrical Components
- Locks and painted surfaces: Five years against defects in materials and workmanship.
- Electrical items: One year against defects in materials and workmanship.
Coverage is for qualifying defects, rather than every type of wear or damage. Review the written terms for service and geographic limitations.
📋 Can the Warranty Transfer to Another Owner?
Transfer requires Liberty’s prior written consent. Contact Liberty before assuming coverage has transferred.
Time-limited component warranties do not restart when ownership changes.
📦 The Safe’s Contents Are Not Covered
Liberty’s warranty covers the safe itself, not the belongings stored inside. Misuse, neglect, and certain modifications are also excluded.
Consider your insurance needs separately when deciding how to protect valuable belongings and important records.
